World Meeting of Families and Pope Francis Visit

Back in August we wrote about photographing Lincoln’s podium in preparation for use by Pope Francis for the World Meeting of Families. After that amazing opportunity, things only got better as the World Meeting grew closer. We were hired by Hargrove, the general service contractor and trade show fabricator to document the design elements and set-up at the Pennsylvania Convention Center.

I brought on my talented video team again to document a 5 story window cling stained glass installation; Hargrove requested us to capture a timelapse video with multiple cameras and angles. I documented the convention center with still photography and the main lobby as 18,000 attendees started the registration process; quite an amazing experience to see so many people descend upon Philadelphia.

Later that week we were tasked to provide additional coverage for Pope Francis’s arrival at the Basilica and Meg Saligman’s Knotted Grotto. Perched atop the Four Seasons with a 600mm telephoto lens, I had the best seat in the house for the motorcade and arrival. Again, we were so thrilled to be a part of this momentous event and even more honored that our images are now a part of historical record.
